A New Peace Path Across Europe
With the goal of combating the rise of antisemitism, xenophobia and growing populist trends across Europe, we plan to create a new, permanent Peace Path, to be called the European Peace Walk, which will start in Vienna and end at the gates of Auschwitz.
The new European Peace Walk will become a symbolic platform for all people to learn about Europe's tragic past and to also enjoy and share in our present culture of peace and open borders.
After completing their 14day trans-national pilgrimage, walkers will spend time in Auschwitz-Birkenau learning about the tragic history of the Holocaust.
ConceptTo create an open and free platform, so that all people can make a meaningful pilgrimage to Auschwitz, to respectively honor the victims of the Holocaust. |
REALITYIt will be a solemn journey of reflection during their 14 day, 350kms trek through 4 beautiful European countries: Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic & Poland. |
REASONSo this horrendous part of history is never forgotten and that we have a lasting, meaningful and respectful platform to truly honor the victims. |
In conjunction with the Orange Book, readers, thinkers and walkers from across the world can honor the victims of the Holocaust and take on the personal challenge of walking 350kms along the new European Peace Walk, all the way from Vienna to Auschwitz. The PeaceWalkers will walk 25kms a day, then stop, rest, reflect and sleep in a hostel and then carry on walking the next day.
FirstlyIn 2024 & 2025 the optimal Route between Vienna & Auschwitz will be researched, tested and decided upon.
