A New Peace Path Across Europe
With the goal of combating the rise of antisemitism, xenophobia and growing populist trends across Europe, we plan to create a new, permanent Peace Path, which will start in Vienna and end at the gates of Auschwitz: the European Peace Walk
The new European Peace Walk will become a symbolic platform focused on educating Youth & Walkers on the terrors of the Holocaust & Europe's tragic past.
After completing their 350kms (14 days) trans-national pilgrimage, walkers will spend time in Auschwitz-Birkenau learning about the history of the Holocaust.
ConceptTo create an open and free platform, so that all people can make a meaningful pilgrimage to Auschwitz, to respectively honor the victims of the Holocaust. |
REALITYIt will be a solemn journey of reflection during their 14 days' trek, through 4 beautiful European countries: Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic & Poland. |
REASONTo inform and educate Youth & Walkers on this part of history and strengthen their remembrance of the Holocaust. |
In conjunction with Peace Museum Vienna and with support from Auschwitz Memorial Museum's International Centre for Education on Auschwitz and the Holocaust, we will enable youth and walkers from across the world to honor the victims of the Holocaust and take on the personal challenge of walking 350kms along the new European Peace Walk. The PeaceWalkers will walk 25-30kms a day, then stop, rest, reflect & learn about the Holocaust. After sleeping in a youth hostel they will carry on walking the next day, all the way from Vienna to Auschwitz, for 14days filled with inclusion, learning and discussion.
FirstlyThroughout 2024 & 2025 the optimal Route between Vienna & Auschwitz will be researched, tested and decided upon.
